The 1997 Dodge Avenger is designed and produced based on the Sebring model from Chrysler, a parent company of Dodge. Both the models look almost similar, but differ in taillights and grille. The 1997 Avenger model is offered in two trim versions, the base model and in high performance ES versions.

Engine

The 1997 Dodge Avenger ES model comes powered by a 2.5 liter single camshaft V6 engine that produces 163 hp and torque of 170 lb ft. The engine is mated to 4-speed automatic. With the V6 engine, the ES model can achieve fuel economy of 20 miles per gallon in the city premises and 27 miles per gallon on the highway roads. The other model comes powered by 2.0 liter I-4 engine that generates 140 hp and torque of 130 lb ft and the engine is mated to 5-speed manual transmission.
