The Dodge Avenger is a mid-sized sedan model produced by Chrysler Corporation. It was first introduced in 1995 as 1996 model and the production of the model have been dropped in 2000.
The Avenger label was re-introduced again in the model year 2008 as four-door sports sedan version. The predecessor model to Dodge Avenger was Dodge Daytona.
First Generation (1995-2000)
The first generation Dodge Avenger was built by Diamond Star Motors, a joint venture between Mitsubishi Motors and Chrysler Corporation. It was designed and produced based on Mitsubishi Galant platform.

The initial Dodge Avenger model was offered as two-door coupe, built on the platform of Chrysler FJ. The standard engine to the model was a 2.0 liter I-4 version and it also offered 2.5 liter Mitsubishi 6G73 V6 engine as optional. The standard transmission to the engine include 5-speed manual, while it offered 4-speed 41TE automatic as optional.
As far as the exterior dimensions of the first generation Dodge Avenger model are concerned, it had the heel base of 103.4 inches, length of 190.2 inches, width of 69.1 inches and height of 53.0 inches. The first generation Dodge Avenger model was related to Mitsubishi Galant and Eclipse, Chrysler Sebring and Eagle Talon.
Second Generation (2008-Present)
The Dodge Avenger was re-introduced again in the model year 2007 as 2008 vehicle as a sedan form. The current generation Avenger model is offered in four trim versions, the base model SE, SXT, R/T and R/T AWD.

The standard engine to the model include a 2.4 liter DOHC I-4 version that delivers 173 hp of power at 6000 rpm and torque of 166 lb ft at 4400 rpm. It comes mated to 4-speed manual transmission. With the I-4 engine, the sedan model can achieve fuel economy of 21 mpg in the city premises and 30 mpg on the highway roads.
